For the first time in over a year, Elizabeth Sekaleng feels hopeful.
In October last year, Sekaleng and eight other families were illegally and forcefully evicted from their multi-bedroom house they had shared for nearly 29 years.
The house, built on the Nietgedacht farm in Lanseria, north-west of Joburg, was demolished and their belongings were tossed onto the side of a dirt road off the R512.
They have had to brave the summer rainfall with just a plastic tarp covering their heads. For the past year they have slept in tents with no access to electricity, running water or ablution facilities, but a Land Claims Court victory has ensured their woes are almost over.

The employers went to court to try to rein in striking security guards believed to be responsible for violence and destruction.
A variation order is such an extraordinary measure that Labour Court Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng was initially reluctant to grant it on Wednesday.
